Another one of my homemade Christmas gifts this year was some peppermint sweets!!
Fondant Icing (Icing sugar and glycerin)
Peppermint flavouring/essence (essence is better – gives a stronger flavour)
I made up a batch of icing then added the peppermint flavouring before rolling out the icing on a prepared surface.
I used a little heart cutter to cut out as many shapes as I could, then laid them out and left them to dry on some greaseproof paper for a few hours.
Once they had hardened I melted the dark chocolate in a bowl and then dipped one edge of each heart in the dark chocolate. These were left to dry and then bagged and tagged and put into hampers or handed out to friends!!
