Knit a Square Update

September 8, 2010

Recently I have had some spare minutes to crotchet a couple more squares for Africa for the Knit a Square Project, a worthwhile way of stash busting odds and ends of yarn into something that will give comfort to orphans!

Here are my latest two!

NB I do intend hitting 10 before posting…. ooohhh and weaving in the ends!!

Those are lovely, and thank you for posting about knit-a-square, we are always very grateful for the word spreading about the work we are doing to comfort the orphaned children. Sandy

Your squares are beautiful! Thank you so much for your support of knit-a-square.

I do a lot of striped/multi-coloured squares myself so I know what you mean about weaving in the ends! The last tail only needs to be woven in 2 or 3 times. They use that piece of yarn to sew into the next square on the blanket. It helps to butterfly the yarn so it doesn’t get horribly tangled. (It’s totally okay if you didn’t leave a long tail on your squares. Not mandatory, just a time saver.)

What pattern did you use for these squares? I’ve been wanting to crochet more and could use a nice pattern that isn’t a granny square.

    Thanks again!

No pattern just twiddled about until the measurements were right!! Lol And thanks for the weaving advice!

Don’t weave in the ends – they want a metre left on to sew the squares together!! x
