Its LUSH!!!! I love it (well apart from the nagging thought that the ribbing needs to be longer)

Weekend DIY Projects

Well after a day at the pumping station in Cardiff I had a few bits and bobs to put up around the house as well as the shelf for the bathroom that Dad made for me and gave me to put up back in June!!!!

So here goes….

The shelf is up (AND DEAD LEVEL!!)

The scarf hanger is up by the front door and hopefully now means I will remember to wear a few of them!! (and the pictures are moved around that needed to be to allow me to put the scarf hanger up)

The Tree I bought at the Pumping Station is up….

And it goes wonderfully with the Elephants I have collected more recently and the little clock I picked up in Ikea….

And finally….. the picture I also bought at the Pumping Station is up on the landing….

This weekend instead of a long hike I decided to have a meander around the Pumping Station Antiques place in Cardiff….

The Winter Garden Harvest

Sunday I spent some time in the garden and harvested the last of the winter potatoes and the parsnips!! Thought it would be a plan to do it then as I had a joint of beef for dinner!

Now bear in mind it was a grow sack thing of potatoes…… disappointing!!! but yay for the parsnips!!! and Yum!!

Weekend Travels – Gray Hill

On Saturday I set out to try and find the Llanmelin Hill fort (Iron Age) and failed so I ended up parking at the Foresters Oaks Car park by Wentwood Forest and the reservoir and heading out for a walk from there. I toiled my way uphill taking a few photos as I went…

Then reached the top and WOW!!! views over the Severn Estuary, Wentwood etc were amazing!!! I also noticed some stone formations while I was atop the hill thought mmm maybe old walls or the like or indeed maybe I had found the hill fort…..

So when I came home I went online to snoop at the ordenance survey….

Which first told me I went UP AND DOWN the STEEPEST side of the hill…. No kidding… The sore legs/knees told me that!! (but I did not want to risk being lost and miles from the car nearing dusk….)

Then it told me it was Gray Hill

It also told me that I was standing amongst a stone circle, a standing stone, a cairn with inner chamber, and stone walling features!!! Hurrah!! Anyhooo…. Fab walk and here are the photos!

Help!!! My garden is a swamp!!

Despite digging a gravel pit in the most floody part of the garden this year’s rainfall has been fairly high soooo my garden looks like this……

This means….

Wellies on to go to the shed….

Wellies on to do poo patrol….

and even wellies on to feed the birds as some of the paving stepping stones seem to have partially sunk!!! (yay thats gonna be a great job hawling them out and padding out underneath……)

Cwmcarn Forest Drive

Saturday I went for an hour plus walk at Cwmcarn Forest Drive doing the Nanycarn walk plus extra wanderings….

There were tonnes of extra streams because of the rainfall we’ve had recently and the water rushing throuh the river and tributaries was immense!!!

It was a rather nice way to spend a Saturday even though I did nearly get mown down by a mountain biker!! (next time Polly and I are going to trip them using the leash!!)
